New partnership to accelerate SAS® training for TCS consultants, deliver on promise of business analytics

MUMBAI, India – SAS, the leader in business intelligence (BI) and analytics, and Tata Consultancy Services (BSE: TCS.BO, NSE: TCS.NS), a leading global IT services, business solutions and outsourcing firm, today announced a global partnership. Together, the companies will deliver to joint customers complete and innovative technology solutions that improve performance, enhance profitability, and deliver insight and intelligence.

“There is increasing demand for solutions that can help organizations glean timely and useful intelligence from volumes of existing data, thereby gaining a competitive edge through actions that boost organizational performance,” said Dr. Santosh Mohanty, Global Head, Technology Excellence, at Tata Consulting Services (TCS). “Business analytics – BI, analytics, data integration and performance management – meets that demand. SAS and TCS are a powerful combination for fulfilling the promise of business analytics and helping global companies succeed.”

While TCS and SAS have worked together before on joint projects, the partnership signals a commitment by both companies to further strengthen and develop joint solutions to meet growing demands for BI and analytics. TCS will increase its consultants trained on SAS to help deliver joint SAS and TCS solutions worldwide.

“TCS is a leading IT services vendor with an established BI practice,” said Praveen Sengar, Senior Manager, Software and Services Research, IDC India. “The partnership with SAS, a leader in the BI and analytics domain, is therefore a natural one that would help both vendors extend their global reach. TCS would gain easier access to SAS software, while SAS can more readily tap TCS’ strong consulting relationships and experienced IT implementation team.”

TCS’ BI practice is among the world’s largest, with approximately 10 percent of revenues derived from business intelligence solutions. Joint customers will benefit from SAS’ 30-plus years of leadership in BI and analytics software combined with TCS’ award-winning consulting and services. Both companies have global reach with diverse customer bases representing every major industry. Both are multibillion dollar organizations committed to innovation: SAS invests nearly a quarter of its revenues back into research and development; TCS supports 19 Innovation Labs worldwide.

“SAS’ partnership with TCS enables joint customers to gain strategic advantage from IT and respond quickly to changing market conditions in their industry,” said Russ Cobb, SAS Vice President of Alliances and Product Marketing. “Most importantly, both SAS and TCS have established expertise in industries including banking, insurance, retail, telecommunications, manufacturing and government. Customers will reap the benefits of this industry-specific focus.”

Added Ratish Panicker, SAS Director of Global Outsourcing and Alliances, “SAS’ partnership with TCS will help expand the depth and breadth of BI, analytic solutions and service offerings globally. This alliance builds on the complementary strengths of both companies so that together we can help organizations take their business intelligence to the next level.”

Today’s announcement came at The Premier Business Leadership Series in Mumbai, India. Presented by SAS, The Series unites public and private sector leaders to share innovative ideas on critical management issues. More than 800 attendees from business, government and education in India, across Asia Pacific and elsewhere participated in the Mumbai event.
