Southern California, September, 2008 - While new home sales are not at the level as seen in the past several years, Marketpointe Realty Advisors, Inc. has the results for the Top Builders in Southern California, and at the top of the list are four publics and one privately held company.
Among the Top 25 Southern California builders are the following top 5 builders. KB HOME, (NYSE: KBH), ranking number one bringing in 9.5 percent of sales, followed by privately held SHEA HOMES accounting for 7.1 percent of sales, D.R. HORTON, (NYSE: DHI) with 6.1 percent, LENNAR HOMES, (NYSE: LEN) with 5.9 percent, and STANDARD PACIFIC, (NYSE: SPF) with 5.3%. New home sales statistics were collected by the research staff at MarketPointe Realty Advisors and reported in ResidentialTrends.
According to Marketpointe Realty Advisors, Inc, total new home sales in the second quarter 2008 for all counties in Southern California were 5,882. Total sales in the Top 25 Builders were at 3,966, a percentage capture in overall sales of 67 percent. Of the Top 25 Builder sales, conversions accounted for 0.5 percent, the attached sector reported 23.6 percent of the total, and the detached sector was responsible for the remaining 76 percent of new home sales.
