Hamburg.- Lorenzo Termite is the name of the 2,000th employee to be recruited by wind power system producer Nordex. An Italian mechanical engineer, he was appointed to the position of project manager for South East Europe - one of the company’s growth regions - on September 1, 2008.

Termite is one of a total of 90 employees whom Nordex recruited last month. Since September 2007, the group’s headcount has risen by around one third, climbing from some 1,500 to a current 2,000 or so. “The market is offering us enormous opportunities for growth which we want to continue using. And to do this, we especially require new qualified employees,” says CEO Thomas Richterich, explaining the reasons for the additions to staff numbers.

Lorenzo Termite is contributing eleven years of experience from international projects in the steel industry. He has been living in Germany for six years and was most recently project manager for rolling stock and special machinery. He is also completing additional studies of economics alongside his career. He opted for Nordex on account of the company’s rapid growth and increasingly international footprint. “It is exciting to be able to play a role in such a process,” says Termite.

Nordex remains committed to its growth strategy: over the past four years, its sales have been growing annually by around 50%, making it one of the most expansionary companies in its industry. This year, business volumes are expected to come to EUR 1.1 billion, up from EUR 750 million in the previous year.

In addition to further recruiting, Nordex is currently spending heavily on new production facilities to create the necessary structures for continued growth. Thus, it is increasing its European production capacity threefold and also expanding its sites in the Far East and oversees substantially. Capacity in China is initially to be doubled, while Nordex is setting up its own production facilities in the United States as of 2009.

Nordex will be an exhibitor at Husum WindEnergy on September 9 -13, where representatives of the Human Resources department will be providing information on the currently roughly 200 vacancies which the company wants to fill by the end of the year. In particular, Nordex has openings for purchases, engineers and project managers.
