First Rotax Fly-In at the aviation club of Weisse Moewe Wels

Gunskirchen, Austria.– BRP-Rotax hosted the first Rotax Fly-In in cooperation with Weisse Moewe Wels at the airport in Wels, Upper Austria. More than 135 pilots from 15 countries participated in this event.

“As this was our very first Fly-In, we were delighted that the number of participants exceeded our expectations, said – Mr. Michael Wagner, Director Aircraft Engines, of BRP-Rotax. ”Everyone was happy to be part of this happening and BRP-Rotax and Weisse Moewe Wels are hoping to host another Fly-In next year"

Seki Shuhei, a Japanese citizen living in Florida, arrived in Wels after a 6-day trip. He pointed out that his confidence in the reliability of his Rotax® aircraft engine was the only reason he considered coming over to the first Rotax Fly-In. Special modifications to the interior of his SportCruiser† enabled Mr. Shuhei to transport enough fuel to manage the long distance quickly and with a minimum of effort.

Women pilots were well represented at the Fly-In with the participation of Rosi Hempel, national champion and pilot instructor from Germany. Mrs. Hempel attended the event and spoke about her 40 year career as a pilot.

The visit of the BRP-Rotax plant in Gunskirchen was highlighted by the opportunity for attendees to discuss with BRP-Rotax engineers about the company and especially about aviation.
