MWH Soft President Paul Boulos Joins Board of Directors of AMIDEAST

Boulos, Ph.D, President and COO, has been named to the Board of Directors of America-Mideast Educational and Training Services, Inc. (AMIDEAST), a preeminent educational and testing organization. Boulos was selected by the AMIDEAST Nominating Committee to assist the organization in its pursuit of excellence and propel it to greater achievements.

Founded in 1951, AMIDEAST is a private, nonprofit organization focused on strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation between Americans and the peoples of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Every year, it provides English language and professional skills training, educational advising, and testing services to hundreds of thousands of students and professionals in the Middle East and North Africa. It also supports numerous institutional development projects in the region and administers educational exchange programs. The organization is headquartered in Washington, DC, with a network of field offices in Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, West Bank/Gaza and Yemen.

Boulos joins an already strong AMIDEAST board composed of prominent Americans and individuals from the MENA region representing a variety of influential fields including business, academia and government. He follows the recent addition of Mrs. Ghada Irani, noted community activist and wife of Occidental Petroleum Corporation chairman and CEO Dr. Ray R. Irani ; Mr. Raymond Maybus, former governor of Mississippi and ambassador to Saudi Arabia; and Mr. Richard Abdoo, President of R.A. Abdoo & Co. and former chairman, president and CEO of Wisconsin Energy. Other recent additions have included MENA representatives Dr. Rima Khalaf, former Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the United Nations Development Programme’s Regional Bureau for Arab States and former Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Planning, and Minister of Industry and Trade; and Dr. Taher Helmy, an Egyptian lawyer and president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.

Other MENA members include Jordanian Senator and former cabinet minister H.E. Leila Abdul Hamid Sharaf; H.E. Kutayba Yusuf Alghanim, Consul General of Saint Kitts and Nevis; Mr. Antoine N. Frem, vice-chairman of the INDEVCO Group and chairman and CEO of Interstate Resources Inc.; and Dr. Samir Khalaf, professor of sociology and Director of the Center for Behavioral Research at the American University of Beirut.
