Juniper Networks Names Luis Avila-Marco to Head Corporate Development

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 2008 -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today appointed Luis Avila-Marco to the position of senior vice president of corporate development, reporting to chairman and chief executive officer Scott Kriens, with responsibility for leading corporate strategic planning, as well as the development of key strategic relationships for the company. As a seasoned corporate strategist, Mr. Avila-Marco joins Juniper Networks from Scientific-Atlanta, a Cisco Systems, Inc. company, where he served as vice president of corporate strategic planning. Mr. Avila-Marco served in a range of engineering, product management, sales and marketing and corporate development assignments over the course of his 14 year tenure at Scientific-Atlanta.

Mr. Avila-Marco succeeds Spencer Greene who has taken on a new assignment, serving as the company’s senior vice president of customer advocacy. After leading corporate development for the past two years, Mr. Greene will now focus his exclusive attention on customers’ business and networking requirements, ensuring that Juniper continues to address these rapidly evolving requirements both efficiently and effectively.

Mr. Avila-Marco, 39, served in a series of increasingly strategic assignments over the course of his 14 year tenure at Scientific-Atlanta, a Cisco Systems, Inc. company. Most recently Mr. Avila-Marco served as the vice president of corporate strategic planning, with responsibility for leading all activities related to defining, communicating and implementing corporate strategy. Prior to joining Scientific-Atlanta, Mr. Avila-Marco served for several years in a series diverse roles in the cable industry in Spain. Mr. Avila-Marco earned a Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) and an M.B.A. from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
