WEBWIRE

The famous Tour De France pedals off in July, and there’s perhaps no better time to visit France – taking in the electric atmosphere of the race and its beautiful backdrop.

Book with Keycamp and thanks to a choice of over 60 holiday campsites you can mix and match stays to take experience as many legs of the race as time allows – on a comfortable budget.

This year, for the first time in 13 years, one of Keycamp’s most popular destinations Brittany will be the starting place for the Tour De France. The beautiful region of Brittany offers 13 fantastic sites to pick from, meaning there’s no excuse to miss the monumental Grand Départ celebrations (5 July 2008).

Brittany continues as a favourite family destination, chosen by parents for its excellent accessibility and gentle climate. In addition to its emerald seas and sandy beaches, it’s also an area rich in culture, with attractions such as Pont Scorff Zoo and Le Mont St Michel proving popular with kids and adults alike.

A seven night break from 3 July at Keycamp’s Les Mouettes site in Carantec costs from £542 for two adults and up to three children, staying in a Keycamp Supertent, accommodation only. Ferry crossings are available at a supplement.

Alternatively, catch the final legs of the race by beginning your holiday at one of Keycamp’s fantastic sites along the sophisticated and truly stunning Cote d’Azur from 18 July. You can then follow the tour to the finish-line, stopping in the Alps from 20 July and ending your journey at the Berny Riviere site, 90 minutes from Paris and perfectly located to cheer the winning cyclists at the Grand Finale, on 27 July.

Three nights at Esterel at St Raphael on the Cote D’Azur from 16 July, followed by three nights at La Pergola at Lac de Chalain and five nights at Berny Riviere will cost £1,353 per family, including return Dover-Calais ferry crossings.

When you’re not enjoying the race, there’ll be plenty to enjoy on-site, with most sites offering a swimming pool complex, children’s clubs, as well as football, basketball and tennis facilities.

And if all the pedalling has inspired you, cycle hire is available at almost all of Keycamp’s sites in France. In fact, why not leave your car at home when visiting France this summer and take advantage of Keycamp’s special Life Cycle special offer?
By booking TGV travel to one Keycamp’s three special Lifecycle sites and the whole family can enjoy free bike hire for the duration of the trip.

Keycamp’s French sites boast a variety of accommodation, so there’s an option to suit every family. The selection includes the Prestige range, surely the most luxurious mobile home experience you can find. Sleeping up to 8, it is exceptionally spacious with a state of the art kitchen with an American style fridge freezer and microwave, plus DVD player and flat screen monitor. But for those with a desire to be closer to nature, the perfect choice is the Supertent, complete with four bedrooms, sprung beds and electricity.
