Online Investment firm will present an inside look at its trading platforms, tips on making better informed investment decisions

Boston.– Scottrade, a leading branch-supported online investment firm, will host a free workshop to help online traders and investors use Scottrade’s trading platforms more effectively. Scottrade’s User Summit will be held on Saturday, June 28, at the Westin Copley Place, 10 Huntington Ave., in Boston.

The workshop is open to the public and will feature two sessions: one from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET that will focus on Scottrade’s main trading Web site; the other from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. that will focus on ScottradeELITE®, Scottrade’s active trader platform.

The workshop will be led by Kevin Dodson, Scottrade’s Director of Online Financial Services. Topics covered during the presentation will include using stock and ETF screeners for identifying potential opportunities, setting up stock alerts, keeping up with the economic calendar for IPOs, earnings and splits. Alex Jacobson, Vice President of Education at the International Securities Exchange, will also present “Options Essentials,” which teaches the basics of trading options.

“The workshop is designed to help investors and traders use our platforms to find and react to opportunities in the market,” Dodson said. “Regardless of an individual’s trading strategy, our goal for the User Summits is for every attendee to learn something they can apply to their next trade.”

The Boston User Summit is one of 12 workshops Scottrade is hosting this year throughout the country. Future User Summits will be held in San Diego on July 14 and in New York on July 21. In addition to monthly User Summits, Scottrade’s customer education initiatives include Web casts, online tutorials and an online community.

“Scottrade is focused on providing our customers with information that will help them make better investment decisions,” said Kristin McDougall, Scottrade Customer Education Manager. “While our customers are self-directed, knowing how to use the online features and tools on our trading platforms can help our customers make better decisions more quickly when they are trading on their own.”

Seats at Scottrade’s User Summit workshop for both sessions are limited to the first 300 registrants. To register online, click on the link for the morning session or the afternoon session. Registration is also available by calling (800) 619-SAVE to be automatically directed to a Boston-area branch office. Customers and the general public may attend both sessions, but must register individually for both.
