EMI Music Publishing songwriters win at the BMI Pop Awards

Company picks up Publisher of the Year title, as Hinder’s Lips Of An Angel wins Song of the Year

New York, NY. – With 14 award songs and the highest percentage of copyright ownership among the year’s top 50 most performed songs, EMI Music Publishing claimed the top spot as Publisher of the Year at last night’s BMI Pop Awards in Los Angeles. Other EMI winning writers included Beyonce, Sean Combs, Pharrell Williams as well as multi-award winners Fergie, Three Days Grace and Pink.

The prestigious Song of the Year prize was picked up by rock band Hinder and fellow EMI Music Publishing writer and producer Brian Howes, for Lips Of An Angel. The song generated the most airplay of any tune on BMI’s most-performed pop song list during the award period, and also claimed Internet Song of the Year as the most performed song on the web during the award period. Hinder also picked up another top 50 most performed songs award for Better Than Me.
