Managed Syndicated Services Project Delivers Common Industry Platform, Encourages Development of Next-Generation Service Provider Ecosystems

NICE, FRANCE (TM Forum Management World).- CA, Inc. (NASDAQ: CA) today announced it was selected by TM Forum’s Catalyst Program’s Managed Syndicated Services Project to offer integrated IT management software solutions that enable service providers to proactively manage service quality. Service providers worldwide are using CA’s solutions for network fault, network performance, application performance and service level management to expedite and assure delivery of next generation services.

As competition increases among service providers, including traditional telecommunications carriers, cable operators, and Internet Service Providers, the need to rapidly develop and deliver new value-added services is paramount. By creating service delivery ecosystems, or syndicates, carriers are accelerating time to market for “Telco 2.0” services. Through support and demonstration of a common industry framework and reference architecture, the Service Delivery Framework (SDF) defined by members of the Catalyst program, which include CA, Telefonica, Microsoft, Accenture, Netcracker, Tribold, and Iptiva, is playing an active and important role in assuring the successful delivery of these new services.

“As we enter new markets and offer new services, we recognize that we can accelerate our time to market if we don’t build everything from scratch,” stated Sagrario Alemán, Telefonica’s technological expert on systems evolution and new channels. “The Catalyst program gives us a useful set of guidelines to follow to create syndicated services, helping us reduce service operations cost, mitigate risk and ensure higher customer satisfaction. With service quality a key to customer retention, this framework will be critical to the future of our industry.”

“The Catalyst program is TM Forum’s living lab. It enables service providers, system integrators, and vendors to work together to solve common, critical industry challenges,” stated Kenneth A. Dilbeck, head of the TM Forum Collaboration Program. “The program provides an opportunity for multi-company, multi-national teams to work together with emerging technologies and capabilities to solve some of the most pressing operational and interoperability issues. CA’s participation is important as they bring many years of experience helping many service providers worldwide manage their services and networks.”

CA’s role in the Catalyst program is focused on helping service providers assure service quality whether services are supported by their own IT and network infrastructure or on-boarded from 3rd party providers. The company’s CA Network & Voice Management, CA Wily Application Performance Management and CA Service Level Management capability solutions help meet expected product and customer service level agreements (SLAs) by monitoring the availability and performance of all components on the service delivery path. Specifically, CA’s offerings help:

* Monitor, analyze, filter and report on events across all service components;
* Collect service performance-related data and events from all management systems, including from other service provider domains;
* Monitor and report overall service quality management metrics against committed service levels (on all services that are provided).

“Market forces and competitive pressures are driving service providers to innovate at a staggering pace. They must deliver new services faster to a broadening array of customers, while being tasked to leverage existing infrastructure,” stated Norman Rice, vice president and general manager of CA’s Industry Programs. “Syndication enables service providers to deliver on-demand services to customers without having to own the infrastructure. As a result, syndicated providers are agile and dynamic enough to make ’Telco 2.0’ a reality.”

Throughout Management World, CA will participate in the Catalyst showcase demonstrating the common framework for assuring delivery of next generation services. CA will also participate in the following sessions:

* Wednesday, May 21, 2:30-3:30 pm – Panel: SDF and the Lego World of Business: Creating New Value for Customers by Composing and Managing Islands of Services from Collaborative Providers
* Wednesday, May 21, 4:30-5:00pm – Session: Customer Centric SQM: Delivering a Successful Transaction Oriented Experience in a World of Services Available Everywhere

CA’s full portfolio of service management solutions for service providers will be on display in the company’s hospitality suite. To schedule a demonstration, contact Elizabeth Marley at elizabeth.marley@ca.com.
