Tyco Electronics Introduces IEC-type Contactors
Tyco Electronics has introduced a new family of IEC-type contactors. PBC series P&B contactors are offered in various models to switch AC3 (motor) loads from nine amps through 80 amps and AC1 (resistive) loads from 25 amps through 125 amps. All models are designed to be conveniently snapped onto a DIN rail or mounted to a panel using screws.
The main contacts of PBC series contactors are in a 3 form X (3PST-NO-DM) configuration. Each contactor also incorporates integral auxiliary contacts. Contactors with main contact ratings of nine through 32 amps offer either a normally open or a normally closed set of auxiliary contacts, while models rated 40 through 80 amps include both a normally open and a normally closed set of auxiliary contacts. The auxiliary contacts are rated 360VA for AC15 loads and 33 watts for DC13 loads.
Efficient coils are offered for a range of popular AC voltages. Maximum coil power requirement in a sealed position ranges from 9.4VA for models rated at nine amps, up to 32 VA for 80 amp models. Inrush coil power ranges from 80VA to 230VA, model dependent.
PBC series contactors have finger-safe (IP20) terminals and a modular design that allows overload relays, auxiliary contact blocks and timer modules to be added with relative ease.
PBC contactor models are UL Listed for the U.S. and Canada, and they are CE marked. A PBC series contactor with main contacts rated nine amps, a set of NO auxiliary contacts and a 24VAC coil (PBC-009A1B7) is book priced at $12.56 in 200 piece quantities. Some PBC models are available from stock, and there is a 12 week leadtime for large OEM orders.
