Location-Based Services Leader Contigo Receives Patent for Monitoring the Movements of Mobile Items

VANCOUVER, BC (April 2008) - Contigo, the leading provider of turn-key GPS solutions for asset tracking, fleet management and personal safety, announced today that it was issued a U.S. Patent for its innovative technology for monitoring the movements of mobile items.

Contigo’s patented method allows monitoring of the operations and location of mobile items using multiple forms of location determining technology. This method is therefore “location technology agnostic,” making it extremely robust and removing the constraints of systems that are dependent on a single location-based services platform. The method allows access using just a web browser or thin client as an interface. The method provides for not only monitoring the location and status items (for example, permitting calls for assistance when needed), but can also control the tracking beacons, generate reports, and manage activities and incidents.

“We had a vision that the monitoring of valuable mobile items — whether it be assets, vehicles or loved ones — on a single platform would be vital for our resellers and end subscribers,” commented John Tedesco, President & CEO of Contigo. “We also recognized that the wireless and location technologies at the heart of our platform would be continuously developing and improving, thereby making an agnostic platform crucial to becoming a leader in the location-based services industry. Today, our system offers GPS and assisted GPS solutions from Trimble, Enfora, Sendum, Falcom and DeWalt communicating over CDMA networks such as Sprint and GSM networks including AT&T and T-Mobile. There are endless opportunities for using Contigo’s platform, and its patented inventions, to create unique applications using advanced wireless location technologies. We look forward to using this first patent as the springboard for innovations yet to come.”

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued Contigo’s patent as U.S. Patent Number 7,327,258. Other patents are pending.
