Oracle Touted for Technology Leadership for Service-Oriented Architecture.

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., 02-DEC-2005 Oracle today announced it was cited as a leading vendor for Comprehensive Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Suites in the Nov. 15, 2005, “The Forrester Wave: Enterprise Service Bus, Q4 2005.” Oracle received the highest scores for its ESB market presence and current offering that provides superior support for both core and extended Web service specifications and standards.

According to the report’s authors, Forrester’s Vice President and Research Director Mike Gilpin and Principal Analyst Ken Vollmer, “Oracle was the overall leader in the comprehensive ESB suite category primarily due to its strong support for connectivity protocols and lower price. Oracle has moved very aggressively in the past three years to carve out a leadership position in the integration market ... This has been accomplished via a combination of internal development and strategic acquisitions.” 1

According to the report, the emerging ESB market is gaining momentum as the gateway for building a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). To assess the state of the ESB market and rate vendors against one another, Forrester used a combination of vendor surveys, product briefings and customer reference calls to assess the strengths and weaknesses of each offering, evaluating vendors against 100 criteria that were grouped into the companies’ current offering, strategy and market presence.

“Oracle’s ESB and Business Integration offering is an important component of Oracle(r) Fusion Middleware and helps customers increase flexibility, reusability and overall responsiveness in a distributed, heterogeneous, service-oriented environment,” said Amlan Debnath, vice president, Server Technologies, Oracle. “Oracle remains committed to supporting open standards and to delivering customers and partners best-in-class components for developing an SOA infrastructure.”
