First ever PSEG Global Green Expo April 25 – 27 at Liberty State Park, Jersey City

Want to be part of NJ’s largest and most comprehensive celebration of Earth Day? Want to learn to live an eco-friendly lifestyle? Want entertainment, “green” information, and a fabulous view of Lady Liberty? Come to the first ever PSEG Global Green Expo.

The premiere eco-event of the season will take place April 25, 26, and 27 at Liberty State Park, Jersey City, and there is something here for everyone. Come and see for yourself the exhibits, speakers and demonstrations that will make it easy for you to take steps to create a more sustainable earth.

Attend workshops and see TV stars and activists Ted Danson and Ed Begley, Jr., as well as conservationist and Animal Planet host Jeff Corwin.Talk with super model Emme. Be entertained by the music of Kevin Bacon and the Bacon Brothers. Explore the more than 125 “green exhibits” featuring everything from hybrid trucks and smart cars to one-stop shopping spots for green building and remodeling. Check out eco-friendly household and gardening items and attend a book signing.

Talk with leading scientists, academics, and other experts who represent a broad array of environmental and energy issues.

Treat the kids to GECKO – the Global Expo Caring Kids Oasis, where they’ll hear Bill Shontz and his Green Up Band, take part in interactive theatrical events, join Woodlands Wildlife, Organic Gardening, Chef Melody, and more. Spend time with Children for Children, hands-on youth volunteers.

Bring your hard-to-dispose-of computers, printers, cell phones, music equipment and TVs to the onsite recycling center. While here, eat on plates made from potato starch which when disposed of will be put in an aerobic digester and turned into high grade compost within three days!

What better way to learn what you can do right now to reduce greenhouse gas than to spend some time at the Expo.

“Global warming is real, and the need for action is now if we’re going to have any chance at all of reaching aggressive greenhouse gas reduction goals,” said Ralph Izzo, chairman and president of PSEG. “We’re sponsoring the Expo because it’s essential to get the ball rolling to a lower carbon future.”

“The Expo will have broad appeal and will be a green celebration which we hope will inspire people about what they can do right now to make the world cleaner and healthier,” Izzo said. “Our nation isn’t capturing the vast bulk of energy and cost savings that are available to people immediately. Even making simple changes, like using the squiggly compact fluorescent light bulbs that last up to 10 times longer than standard bulbs will make a big difference in the world we’re leaving to our children.”

The first 1,000 people attending the Expo each day will receive a free, energy-efficient CFL light bulb courtesy of PSEG. Pick one up at our exhibit area, where we’ll showcase PSEG’s commitment to sustainability, clean generation, energy efficiency and conservation.

“This will be an exciting event,” Izzo said. “We hope it will be motivating, too - so that people will come away from it saying not only ‘Wasn’t that terrific,’ but also ‘I can make difference.’
