Green Products Gain Ground in Funeral Industry

WEBWIRE

2008 is turning into an interesting year for small UK based Biotech company Aardbalm Ltd. Sales of their patented products have tripled in the 1st quarter 2008. Their partner, Facultatieve Group of Holland one of the Worlds premier Funeral Service company’s have already taken delivery of the newly packaged products for sales in France, Spain and Poland and there is strong demand for the company’s product in the US.

It is only 7 months till November 2008 which is the final filing date for the formaldehyde usage dossier under PT 22 (embalming). Producers of such products have already had to remove phenol and other active ingredients leaving only formaldehyde which is a known CMR risk – Carcinogen, Mutagen and Reprotoxin.

Aardbalm have recently completed rigorous independent trials in University’s and Hospital’s in Sweden and California bolstering the company’s claims on efficacy and eco credentials.

We contacted the company recently and asked whether a ban on formaldehyde would be negative to the industry, Mr Rupert Street the company spokesman claimed that the effect would be the opposite citing the company’s mission statement:

“To be eco-friendly, provide a better occupational environment and work! “

He further claims that getting rid of formaldehyde will increase the industry’s profitability by 10%, as with Aardbalm there is no need for air filtration and the ever costly energy that is needed to run it. Further to this the current users of Aardbalm report that they do not suffer any of the usual complaints that are associated with long term formaldehyde exposure.

Aardbalm have seen enquiries from the US increased many fold with demand for trials, distributorships and lectures. They are currently reviewing submissions from interested parties to support this interest.

With the Biocides and REACH regulations coming into effect we expect to see more companies like Aardbalm bringing Green Technology into everyday usage.
