Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has been awarded a 10-year contract valued at more than $40 million to supply depot support and engineering services for multiple space control systems for the U.S. Space and Missile Systems Center’s Space Superiority Systems Wing at Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. The contract covers one base year with nine option years. The value of the contract may increase through future options.

The Space Superiority Systems Wing is responsible for delivering and sustaining space control systems to ensure space superiority for the United States. These include offensive and defensive counterspace systems and space situation awareness capabilities needed to gain and maintain space superiority.

The work will be led by Harris Corporation’s National Intelligence Programs business, with on-site support from the Harris IT Services business. Harris teammates on the program include General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, Santa Clara, California; TMC Design, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and L-3 Technical Management Services Division, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

“Harris has a long and successful history of supporting the vital space systems and missions of the U.S. Air Force at various locations around the world,” said Sheldon Fox, president of Harris National Intelligence Programs. “We are proud to expand our support to the Space Superiority Systems Wing and look forward to a strong partnership with our customer as well as our teammates during the course of this program.”

The contract follows last month’s announcement that Harris was selected for the $410 million Network and Space Operations and Maintenance (NSOM) program in support of the 50th Space Wing’s Air Force Satellite Control Network, based in Colorado Springs with locations around the globe.
