MX960 and M120 Platforms Support Fast, Feature-Rich Services for High-Performance Russian Businesses

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April, 2008 -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that PeterStar, a leading telecommunications provider in the Northwest region of Russia, specializing in telephony, data and Internet services for business customers, has deployed a 10 Gigabit network based on Juniper Networks MX960 Ethernet Services Routers and Juniper Networks M120 Multiservice Edge Routers. PeterStar selected Juniper high-performance network infrastructure for its core and edge infrastructure build out to keep pace with increasing customer demand for fast, reliable and secure services.

“The need for a 10 gigabit network is related to the significant dynamic growth of PeterStar’s customer traffic,” said Ilya Kravchuk, acting general director of PeterStar. “Deploying such a powerful and scalable network is an investment for the company’s future, in line with our position as a leader in the marketplace in this region. Our new network, built around Juniper Networks solutions, will allow us to broaden the range of services provided to our corporate customers, and will also enable PeterStar to integrate more deeply into federal projects of the Synterra group of companies, whose national network is also based on Juniper Networks equipment.”

The core and edge of PeterStar’s network run on JUNOS, Juniper’s common operating system, which simplifies operation, supports fast introduction of new services and streamlines costs without compromising performance or stability.

The Juniper Networks MX960 ESR is the largest capacity Carrier Ethernet platform available in the market today, delivering up to 960 Gbps of switching and routing capacity and optimized for emerging Ethernet network architectures and services. The support it offers for high-performance multicast enables PeterStar to create further market differentiation through sophisticated broadcast services as customer requirements for multiplay increases.

The M120 Multiservice Edge Router offers 10 Gigabit density with a flexible and cost-effective service configuration that enables telecommunications providers and large enterprises to more efficiently migrate to next-generation, converged IP business and residential services. The M120 can also provide versatile, carrier-grade core performance in a compact, efficient form factor for small-to-medium deployments.

“PeterStar is already familiar with JUNOS from previous router deployments, so its decision to base its next-generation network on the same software speaks volumes for the stability and performance it continues to deliver,” said Gert-Jan Schenk, senior vice president of operations, EMEA, for Juniper Networks. “This solution combines the established strength of JUNOS with the innovation and service opportunity of the MX960 and M120 to create a high-performance network infrastructure at the heart of PeterStar’s growing business.”
