Wade McDaniel and John McGowan Recognized for Contributions to Supply Chain Industry

PHOENIX -- With a combined 50 years of supply chain experience, Avnet executives Wade McDaniel and John McGowan were recognized as 2008 Provider Pros to Know by Supply & Demand Chain Executive. This marks the fourth consecutive year Supply & Demand Chain Executive has recognized executives from global technology distributor Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), and the first time two Avnet leaders have made the list.

Supply & Demand Chain Executive Provider Pros to Know is a listing of individuals from software firms, service providers, consultancies, and analyst and research firms that have personally helped their clients build their 21st century supply chain. Individuals are selected based on their views on the role of technology in enabling the 21st century economy, the processes and technologies employed to move their clients toward this vision, and the results that their clients have realized in moving toward this vision.

McDaniel has been a driving force in equipping Avnet Electronics Marketing’s supply chain customers with the knowledge and ability to optimize some of the most complex supply chains in the world. As vice president of global supply chain services for Avnet Electronics Marketing, he currently leads the company’s Supply Chain Leadership Exchange Program designed to facilitate the exchange of information and best practices among Avnet’s Asia and Americas region. In June 2007, McDaniel traveled to Asia to spend nine months in Hong Kong, where he continues to help Avnet’s customers build and implement state-of-the-art supply chains for their own companies worldwide.

’It is truly an honor for Wade to be recognized among this group of industry leaders,’ said Greg Frazier, executive vice president of supply chain services for Avnet Electronics Marketing. ’By facilitating the exchange of information and best practices among Avnet’s customers, suppliers and internal organization, Wade has helped us better align global supply chain processes. This is a critical factor in enabling a smooth transition for customers migrating production from one region to another.’

Throughout his career, McGowan, a senior vice president of operations for Avnet Logistics, has helped some of the world’s largest OEMs manage the constantly evolving supply chain. He recently led a project with a leading contract semiconductor assembly and test services company to establish demand signal planning, which resulted in a reduction of more than 50 percent in material obsolescence and inventory costs. McGowan and his team also worked with a fabless semiconductor company and its customers to move to demand-driven manufacturing and consolidated inventory points, optimizing the company’s finished goods inventory while enhancing order fill rates.

’John is on the front line - bringing his vision of a collaborative supply chain to life,’ said Jim Smith, president, Avnet Logistics. ’He believes strongly that by using this process, all members of the supply chain will benefit from more accurate forecasts and efficient inventory management. I’m proud to have John as a member of our team, and it is an honor for him to be recognized by Supply & Demand Chain Executive with this award.’
