Project is part of a ten-year natural gas line corrosion protection upgrade

Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL), an Alliant Energy Company, will begin work next week to upgrade the corrosion protection of the natural gas distribution system in Nevada. The upgrades will enhance reliability and maintain the system’s protection from corrosion for many years to come.

Work will begin by the end of March, weather permitting and will continue through most of the year. The project will span across the community and some services to homes will be replaced. Effected homeowners will be notified by mail and/or door hangers prior to work commencing. In addition, certain natural gas distribution mains may also be uncovered to upgrade the corrosion protection system in particular areas. This work is part of a ten-year project that will upgrade IPL’s natural gas line corrosion protection through all of the company’s Iowa natural gas service areas.

As part of the project, the company may interrupt natural gas service to customers in the community at various times. Natural gas service interruptions may be necessary to complete the corrosion protection project safely.

“We regret any inconvenience the project and any possible natural gas service interruptions may cause our customers,” states Ron Estabrook, Operations Manager for underground projects. The reliability and safety of our natural gas distribution system is our highest priority.” We remain committed to investing in our Iowa natural gas infrastructure in order to continue providing safe and reliable natural gas service to our customers in central Iowa.”
