Industry-Leading Solutions, Led by IBM System Storage, Selected by the iF International Forum Design for Ability to Help Clients Innovate

HANOVER, Germany - 04 Mar 2008: Today at CeBIT, the leading European trade fair for information technology, IBM announced the iF International Forum Design has awarded IBM four iF product design awards for superior design, innovation and development around its Systems and Technology Group products and solutions.
The prestigious iF product design awards are given annually to companies that achieve significant breakthroughs in design and collaborative innovation of products and solutions across a wide variety of industries. IBM was recognized for its innovation and expertise in the storage and server product design category.

“IBM design philosophy has always emphasized purposeful design that is both differentiating and user focused,” said Lee Green, vice president of values and brand experience, IBM. "Today’s awards in our storage and retail divisions reflect IBM’s long term dedication to technology design that is best-of-breed and that reflects our leadership in systems and solutions.”

The awards given to IBM celebrate its unique ability to provide clients with industry leading storage and server solutions. Each of the new products that were recognized today demonstrates inventive design aspects focused on meeting the needs of the end user.

The four products selected by the iF International Forum Design for iF product design award 2008 are:

* The IBM System Storage™ N3300: IBM System Storage N3300 modular disk storage system helps simplify data management and is designed to provide primary and secondary storage for midsize enterprises. IBM N3300 system innovations include internal controller support for Serial-Attached SCSI(SAS) or SATA drives, expandable I/O connectivity and onboard remote management. The IBM N3300 system provides up to 12TBs of internal storage capacity and can be expanded with Fibre Channel or SATA disk expansion units for up to a total system capacity of 68TBs.

* The IBM System Storage N3600: IBM System Storage N3600 is designed to provide primary and secondary storage for midsize enterprises, consolidating fragmented application based storage and unstructured data into one unified, easily managed and expandable platform. IBM N3600 provides up to 20TBs of physical capacity into a 4U enclosure supporting either SAS or SATA disk drives within the controller and with optional Fibre Channel or SATA external expansion for up to an additional 84 TBs of physical capacity for a total system capacity of 104TBs.

* The IBM System Storage TS2240: The IBM System Storage TS2240 Tape Drive is the entry-level offering that is the answer to growing storage requirements and shrinking backup windows. It is designed to provide high-capacity tape storage in a small half-high form factor to address backup and archiving requirements with the latest in Linear Tape Open technology. The TS2240 is capable of performing application managed encryption, designed to increase data security in an open systems environment.

* The IBM AnyPlace Kiosk: The IBM AnyPlace Kiosk is an ultra-compact self-service touch screen model with dual video display capability to support advanced rich media applications. It is designed to optimize the consumer experience across a broad range of market segments, including retail, travel, financial, government, healthcare and entertainment and supports a global ecosystem of software applications.

The iF product design awards will be formally presented to IBM at the CeBIT 2008 exhibition in Hanover, Germany on March 4.
