Nordex Academy moving to new buildings in Rerik

Rostock.- Nordex is going back to the roots in its training and skills development efforts. Established around six years ago in Rostock, the Nordex Academy is returning to the company’s former premises in Rerik. With a total floor area of around 1,100 square meters, there is sufficient space for theoretical and practical training. In addition to seminar rooms, the buildings include modern IT training facilities, an electrical engineering laboratory and an assembly hall measuring 400 square meters for wind turbines. Nordex has spent around one million euros on readying the buildings.



The training program is primarily directed at technical staff in the turbine assembly, rotor blade production and service areas. At the same time, Nordex plans to continue qualifying partner companies here. Full-time instructors have been employed to conduct the training. However, external experts will be used for a number of highly specialized training sessions. Practical training for rotor blade builders will be taking place in a hall specially prepared for this purpose in Rostock.



“As a supplier of high-quality products and services, our success hinges crucially on our employees’ qualifications. For this reason, extensions to the Academy are money very well spent,” says Thomas Richterich, CEO at Nordex. This year, the Company plans to recruit between 800 and 1,000 new employees. In fact, at least 300 technical positions will be created in connection with the extensions to the Rostock facility alone. Adds Richterich: “A sizable number of the new employees will come here for further training.” The Academy also organizes training activities at Nordex’s international sites, which it currently maintains in 18 countries around the world.
