WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – ITT Corporation has been named number nine on CRO Magazine’s list of ’100 Best Corporate Citizens.’

The annual ranking evaluates more than 1,100 large U.S. public companies, drawn predominantly from the Russell 1000 Index, in eight key categories: environment, climate change, human rights, employee relations, corporate governance, lobbying, philanthropy and financial performance. CRO Magazine, which exists to meet the needs of corporate responsibility officers, has for the last nine years published the ’100 Best Corporate Citizens’ list.

“The 100 Best distinguish themselves from other large public companies by embracing high standards and combining strong financial performance with responsible practices on environmental and social issues,” said Michael Connor, publisher and editor of CRO Magazine. “We salute the 100 Best for their leadership roles in the area of corporate responsibility.”

Joining ITT in the top 10 of the ’100 Best Corporate Citizens’ list was Intel (No. 1), Eaton (No. 2), Nike (No. 3), Deere & Co. (No. 4), Genentech (No. 5), Corning (No. 6), Humana (No. 7), Bank of America (No. 8), and PG&E (No. 10).

CRO Magazine worked with IW Financial, a Portland, Maine-based research firm to develop the rankings. IW Financial relied on data from a number of sources including company financial disclosures, sustainability and citizenship reports, websites, EPA databases, and a number of other sources as part of its standard research processes.
