Oscar Viewers Bring the Red Carpet Home

Over 40 million people tuned in Sunday to watch George Clooney, Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, and countless other stars at the Academy Awards ceremony. But this year, a surprising number of people watched the Oscars in chairs that bore a striking resemblance to the fabled red carpet.

Officially, the color is labeled “Cinnabar Red Passion Suede” by the chairs’ manufacturer, but to many customers it is simply the “red carpet FUF chair.” FUF (pronounced foof) chairs resemble beanbag chairs, but they are filled with urethane foam that molds to the shape of one’s body.

Although customers have often purchased FUF chairs for lounging in front of the television, this year, retailers have noticed a striking trend. Sales of chairs with the cinnabar red passion suede fabric have jumped markedly as Oscar season approached.

According to David Vallone of BuyFuf.com (www.BuyFuf.com), his online store has sold more FUF’s in the “red carpet” fabric in February than the preceding 10 months combined. “We can’t believe how many people are purchasing FUF’s for Oscar night,” stated Vallone.

BuyFuf.com is based in Piscataway, New Jersey, and is accessible online at www.BuyFuf.com. They offer the complete line of Fuf (Foof) products, including FUF chairs, ottomans, and pillows.
