Occam Facilitates Service Upgrade, Helps OTTC Expand into Additional Territories

Santa Barbara, CA . - Occam Networks® Inc. (NASDAQ: OCNW), a leading broadband access network supplier, announced today that Ontario & Trumansburg Telephone Companies (OTTC) has deployed multiple Occam Broadband Loop Carrier (BLC) 6000 components both to upgrade the services the telco provides to the Finger Lakes area of New York State and to expand its geographic reach to surrounding areas. OTTC is headquartered in Phelps, New York and Trumansburg, New York, serving 11,000 subscribers throughout the central portion of the state.

“Occam equipment is the heart of our business,” said Paul Griswold, OTTC CEO and president. “The BLC solution has enabled us to keep our business up to date with the latest technologies. Occam allows us to move into the future and offer more products than a traditional telephone company.”

OTTC has deployed Occam’s BLC 6151 POTS blades, the BLC 6640 Subscriber Trunk Gateway blades and the 6212 ADSL2Plus blades, offering local and long distance telephone service, broadband services and customized business solutions. Ontario Telephone celebrated its 100th anniversary in October 2007 and Trumansburg Telephone celebrated its 100th in December 2007.

The company has completed its initial project of upgrading old equipment with Occam equipment. It is now migrating toward becoming a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) in areas surrounding OTTC’s core territory. OTTC also plans to introduce fiber to the home (FTTH) in the near future.

“OTTC has aggressively pursued its dual strategy of upgrading its network and moving into both new services and new geographies,” said Nathan Harrell, vice president of sales for Occam Networks. “Occam’s ease of deployment and rapid ’time to revenue’ has enabled OTTC to upgrade quickly and generate new revenue streams.”
