Agreement Underscores Growing List of Third-Party Content Providers to Offer Valuable Maps and Content Only for Magellan GPS Solutions

LAS VEGAS.- Magellan, the world’s fastest-growing GPS brand, today announced a partnership with Primordial, Inc. which for the first time will give consumers off-road routing on a GPS device that considers natural and manmade obstacles. Magellan will be showcasing the new content solution in its booth (Central Hall #5897) at the Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show) in Las Vegas beginning on Feb. 2, 2008.

The GPS industry has historically delivered closed systems; Magellan is changing that paradigm by providing an open system and developer kit that is enabling companies like Primordial to develop unique and valuable navigation solutions for Magellan customers. After six years in development and more than $2 million in United States Army funding, Primordial is the world leader in off-road navigation, offering its flagship product, Ground Guidance®.

Currently, off-road navigation experienced by outdoor enthusiasts only takes users from one point to another – or, “as the crow flies” – without regard to any natural or manmade obstacles between the two points. Primordial’s Ground Guidance application will provide a true off-road navigation experience through a unique, patented technology that allows users to access a meandering route that avoids dense forest, lakes and rivers, steep inclines, and other natural hazards, leading users to their destinations in the most effective way possible. The result is off-road routing that is similar in nature to auto navigation routing.

Primordial’s Ground Guidance software will be integrated into future generations of the Magellan TritonTM product line to deliver the first handheld GPS of its kind. Users will be able to purchase regional content to activate the off-road navigation capability. For current Triton users, a free upgrade will be available through Magellan’s VantagePointTM software, a powerful new desktop application that enables users to manage and expand the content on their Magellan GPS device.

“Magellan is working to put people in control of their navigation experience with innovative and beneficial applications like Primordial Ground Guidance that give you the best information and map resources available to enhance your navigation experience,” said Christian Bubenheim, vice president of product marketing for Magellan. “Ground Guidance, combined with the simplicity and power of our GPS devices, will assist outdoor enthusiasts who like to visit remote places where there are no clear trails, tracks or roads, helping them to get to their destinations quickly and safely.”

“Primordial is delighted to work with Magellan to bring our Ground Guidance software to life with the new series of Triton handhelds,” said Randy Milbert, president of Primordial. “The partnership between Primordial and Magellan will enable hikers, backpackers, hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts to have a richer navigation experience with Primordial’s software when used with Magellan Triton units.”
