The Weather Channel Forecast Earth Team Welcomes Zoologist Jarod Miller

Forecast Earth climate series greets animal guests for the first time



ATLANTA - The Weather Channel today announced a new addition to its Forecast Earth team. Environmental zoologist Jarod Miller will begin on-air features focused on animals and climate change during the weekly series Forecast Earth starting March 8. The show airs at 5 p.m., 7 p.m., 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. ET Saturday and Sunday.

Miller is a young naturalist, zoologist and lecturer on captive management and wildlife conservation. Only about five years ago, he became the youngest accredited zoo director in the country at age 25. Not a stranger to The Weather Channel, Miller brought some of his furry, scaly and feathered animal friends for a presentation on endangered species and environmental zoology at the first-ever Forecast Earth Summit by The Weather Channel in December 2007.

The production company he created, Wild Encounters, provides U.S. students an opportunity to learn about the world’s animal habitats. Host of his own syndicated TV series, “Animal Exploration with Jarod Miller,” he has become a familiar face to TV audiences like his idols Marlon Perkins and Jack Hanna. He has appeared regularly on national TV shows, has made more than 100 guest appearances on national and international television, has starred in productions for Nickelodeon and Animal Planet networks, and is currently a regular guest on various news and entertainment programs, including; The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Last Call with Carson Daly, and The Today Show.

He will join the current climate team for Forecast Earth, which includes anchor and reporter Natalie Allen, climate expert Dr. Heidi Cullen, and scientist Dr. Marcus Eriksen. Forecast Earth on The Weather Channel is the network’s weekly one-hour program on climate change and green living that airs Saturdays and Sundays. The show is a part of the company’s multi-platform climate initiative.

An advocate for environmental efforts, The Weather Channel has adopted a broader Forecast Earth initiative, which intends to educate viewers about climate change and empower them to make a difference.
