Three-year contract covers managed network services across more than 50 locations worldwide

BT today announced the signature of a global network services agreement with Van Oord, one of the world’s largest dredging and marine contractors. Van Oord, working on dredging and marine projects around the world, signed a three-year contract, worth €2.5 million, to implement a global MPLS network and services in over 40 countries, across more than 50 locations in West- and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia and South America.

A highly resilient IP network will connect Van Oord’s sites across the world, providing the company with the foundations to successfully run its business on. The decision to use BT’s services fits into Van Oord’s current IT-strategy to enhance the availability, flexibility and security of the existing network- and IT-infrastructure.

Furthermore, BT developed a near future roadmap, which translates services such as security, hosting, convergence and video-conferencing into specific business benefits for Van Oord.

Michel De Coster, CEO BT Benelux, says: “We are and go where our customers want us to be. The fact that Van Oord has chosen us is yet another example of our capability to deliver communication services via our global 21CN network.”

The contract encompasses network services such as WAN (wide area network based upon BT’s MPLS-network (multi-protocol label switching)), LAN/SAN (local area network/storage area network), internet and worldwide remote access services via Wi-Fi, GPRS, fixed internet, 3G, toll free, in-flight and hotel Ethernet.
