AT&T’s Managed Services to Connect Emission Technology Company’s Global Operations

Troy, Michigan.-AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has announced a five-year contract with EMCON Technologies, a privately held company of New York-based equity investment firm One Equity Partners. A leader in global emission technology, EMCON will connect its operations in 19 countries with AT&T’s suite of managed voice and data services.

Under the terms of the agreement, AT&T will deploy managed Virtual Private Network (VPN) and security solution and connect 44 EMCON engineering centers, manufacturing plants and administrative sites around the world.

Seeking a global provider with reliable connectivity and superior customer service, EMCON chose AT&T’s network technology with its Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) backbone to enhance day-to-day business operations in sales, pricing and inventory. In addition, AT&T’s managed Internet Protocol (IP) VPN and security solution will defend against network and Internet service interruptions.

With AT&T’s advanced IP-based MPLS network, EMCON can stay better-connected through voice conferencing and Web meetings. Greatly reducing expenses while increasing opportunity for collaboration, AT&T’s conferencing services provide quality and reliability. With AT&T’s VPN, EMCON is capable of conducting video conferences in the future with a multimedia experience of integrated video, audio and data information on a multipoint call.

Similarly, AT&T’s Web-meeting service enables EMCON employees to collaborate online in real time on engineering and manufacturing designs by adding a multimedia component to traditional conference calls. Requiring no additional software or expensive maintenance, AT&T’s secure Web-meeting service allows EMCON to add documents, illustrations and diagrams from remote locations across an encrypted Secure Sockets Layer to audio conference participants across the globe.

“AT&T provides the complete suite of communications products needed to support our global enterprise environment,” said Gene Horlander, Senior Director, Enterprise Technology Information & Operations, EMCON Technologies. “Being able to collaborate from anywhere gives us the ability to quickly respond to business requirements and provides the competitive edge needed in a demanding market.”

In addition to its network data and conferencing services, AT&T will provide EMCON with international and local long distance voice services, local services and corporate calling cards. EMCON’s interstate long distance services are provided under the AT&T Business Network Service, which bundles multiple integrated services onto a single bill and contract for ease and efficiency.
