EMC® Documentum® Applicationxtender® Streamlines Business Operations at Major New York Property Developer

WEBWIRE

EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC), the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced that the Durst Organization -- a leading owner, manager and developer of premier mid-town Manhattan commercial and residential property buildings -- has streamlined its invoice processing and leasing contracts management systems leveraging EMC® Documentum® ApplicationXtender® and EMC CLARiiON® networked storage. The organization leverages Documentum ApplicationXtender transactional content management software to successfully manage the process workflow for all invoices, as well as facilitate document retention and retrieval for commercial property leases stored on its CLARiiON CX3-10 system.

Building on the success that customers like Durst have experienced with Documentum ApplicationXtender, EMC today also unveiled EMC® Documentum® ApplicationXtender® 5.4 – the market’s leading transactional content management solution for departments and mid-sized organizations. Documentum ApplicationXtender 5.4 addresses the transactional content management needs of departments and mid-sized organizations -- providing complete capture, document workflow, routing, and archival of business content for retention and compliance – all in a solution designed for the non-enterprise market, where low cost and implementation with minimal IT support are critical.

“We often archive our leasing agreements for several decades and -- several years after the leasing contract is initially created and stored in our system -- an employee may need to look up a specific clause in the lease,” explained Assistant Vice President of Information Technology at Durst, Barry Fagan. “ApplicationXtender makes it easy for employees to perform a search on a particular keyword or phrase that will help them quickly find the right page of the right leasing document, which may be hundreds of pages long and several years old. It saves our employees a lot of time.”

As an owner, manager and developer of more than 8.3 million square feet of commercial and residential property in New York City, the Durst Organization often manages leases that can run hundreds of pages long and must be securely retained for several decades. Documentum ApplicationXtender software enables Durst employees to easily perform text searches of specific keywords or phrases that may appear in a leasing contract, in order to quickly find and retrieve the appropriate document.

The organization also leverages Documentum ApplicationXtender’s workflow capabilities to route scanned invoices to the appropriate people for approval, and then to the accounting system for processing. All invoice and leasing contracts at Durst are stored on an EMC CLARiiON networked storage system and replicated off-site with EMC RepliStor®, out-of-the box data recovery and protection software.
