Continental Airlines, Chase Introduce Continental Airlines TravelBank World MasterCard

Chase Card Services, a division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. [NYSE:JPM], and Continental Airlines, today introduced the Continental Airlines TravelBank World MasterCard , which offers a new, easy and flexible way for cardmembers to earn credits toward their next flight. Instead of OnePass miles, cardmembers earn travel credits, which offer enhanced flexibility to be used for all or part of any flight purchased on continental.com. The earned travel credits are automatically collected in customers’ TravelBank accounts, where they can be redeemed at any time as TravelBank cash.

Cardmembers earn three percent for purchases made using the card on eligible cable, telecommunications and wireless purchases. In addition, cardmembers earn one percent for all other card purchases. Cardmembers also receive $50 toward their travel credits after their first card purchase.

“The TravelBank card expands earning and reward options for our customers,” said Mark Bergsrud, senior vice president, marketing programs and distribution, Continental Airlines. “With the TravelBank card, Continental is the first airline to offer its frequent flyer members the opportunity to earn and redeem both miles and dollar-based travel credits.”

“Less frequent travelers want the flexibility to redeem their travel rewards whenever they want, and not have to wait until a higher threshold has been achieved,” said Charles Chitty, senior vice president, Chase Card Services. “In partnership with Continental Airlines, we listened to consumers’ feedback and developed the Continental Airlines TravelBank World MasterCard to meet this need.”

Each year on the anniversary of their card opening, cardmembers who spend more than $10,000 in qualifying purchases receive $25 in travel credits deposited directly into their TravelBank account, as well as five Continental Currency coupons (valued at up to $25). These rewards can be redeemed for things such as in-flight beverages and headsets.

Additional benefits include:

# Free and automatic membership in the continental.com Travel Club, which provides additional discounts and special deals such as $5 deposited into cardmembers’ TravelBank accounts for every ticket purchased and flight taken on continental.com, great vacation packages through Continental Airlines Vacations and much more;
# Contactless, blink-enabled payment technology, which provides customers with a fast and convenient way to pay for purchases by holding their card up to a special reader; and
# World MasterCard benefits including no preset spending limit, zero liability for unauthorized purchases and emergency cash and card replacement.

In addition to the TravelBank card, Chase and Continental Airlines recently introduced the Continental Airlines Presidential Plus World MasterCard, which was designed for affluent travelers. This card offers a collection of benefits specifically designed to enhance the entire travel experience, including a Presidents Club airport lounge membership, Elite Access priority airport services, complimentary car upgrades, and automatic Elite hotel status. Continental Airlines Presidential Plus cardmembers also enjoy double OnePass miles for all hotel, car and Continental flight purchases with the Presidential Plus World MasterCard in addition to one OnePass mile for every dollar spent everywhere else.
