Sale of Alcatel-Lucent’s remaining share in Avanex

Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) announced today that it sold 28,295,868 Avanex shares, ie 12.4% of Avanex, to Pirelli. These shares were received in July 2003 when Alcatel sold its Optronics business to Avanex. Within the framework of this transaction, Alcatel-Lucent signed supply agreements with both Pirelli and Avanex for related components.

Financial terms of this transaction are not disclosed.
