Bear River Announces BearTracks Packages, the Next-Generation Package Tracking System for Large Organizations

Bear River announced BearTracks Packages, a next-generation software product for the internal tracking of packages, accountable interoffice mail, and a variety of corporate assets. The core module of BearTracks Packages, the Receiving & Distribution Module, will be distributed in January 2008. Bear River is demonstrating this new product at RB Publishing’s Parcel Forum in Chicago, Oct 30-31, 2007.

Mr. Matamoros went on to say “Bear River has been developing web applications and web sites for ten years. In the last couple of years AJAX-based web applications have become the norm – examples include Google Maps and other Google applications. AJAX-based applications behave very much like native desktop applications to users but are far easier to support by IT departments since they really are web applications. The earlier generation of HTML-based web applications is more difficult to use. BearTracks Packages is the first AJAX-based internal tracking system and provides better usability.”

BearTracks Packages can be deployed in multiple ways. It can be run internally (behind the firewall) as an internal information system. Alternatively it can be hosted externally (outside the firewall).

BearTracks Packages is not a replacement for Star Receiver, Bear River’s current package tracking solution. That produce, which has been a market leader for ten years, will continue but will be re-targeted to mid-sized and smaller organizations. BearTracks Packages has been designed from the ground up to provide more modularity and configurability than Star Receiver and to meet the needs of larger enterprises for integration with other information systems such as Oracle, SAP, shipping software, and automated mail sorters.
