Agfa’s Ink Optimisation Demonstrated at Ifra.
Agfa Graphics (Stand B620) announced today that customers of its newest ink optimisation software, :Arkitex OptiInk, are achieving impressive results in both cost savings and print quality, meeting and exceeding their initial expectations. This fully automatic software solution will be demonstrated at the IFRA 2007, the international newspaper and publishing show taking place October 8-10, 2007 in Vienna, Austria.
Results from initial newspaper publishing sites around the world have been extremely positive. OptiInk helps newspapers with their most significant challenges today-reducing costs while simultaneously improving productivity and quality. OptiInk is frequently mentioned as ’the perfect fit.’
"Since we started using OptiInk we are seeing significant annual ink savings" said Ronald Sonnleitner, prepress manager at Landesverlag Druckservice, a major newspaper printer in Austria. "It visibly increases the quality of our printed output, and the reduction of total ink coverage has decreased the frequency of smudging on opposite pages"
"OptiInk reduced our ink usage and paid for itself rather quickly" noted Poul Erik Clausen, director of the printing department at Denmark’s Nordjyske Medier. "It improved print quality by reducing set-offs and eliminated the quality problems that we had with dark elements"
Other reports from Agfa customers indicate that OptiInk results in reduced fan-out, reduced drying times, reduced visual impact in the case of misregistration, and an increase in press stability. :Arkitex OptiInk automatically converts color spaces to ensure consistent printed colors. It uses Smart Input Space Recognition technology (SISR) that assigns an input profile when the profile is not provided in the PDF file, effectively addressing an issue that has been the cause of many PDF colour problems. :Arkitex OptiInk can also be configured to automatically convert spot colors into CMYK color space.
In addition to IFRA demonstrations, Agfa’s most recent OptiInk customer in Austria, MediaPrint, will be showcasing the software’s functionality as an integral part of a larger Agfa system running live at the MediaPrint production plant. Agfa’s IFRA visitors are invited to attend. Information will be available at the Agfa stand.
