BASF to showcase chemical solutions at SEMICON Europa 2007 in Stuttgart

BASF will showcase its expertise in electronic chemicals for the semiconductor industry at the SEMICON Europa trade fair in Stuttgart, Germany, from October 9 to 11. At Booth 822 in Hall 1, members of the BASF team will inform visitors about the company’s high-quality services and products for the dynamic semiconductor industry.

One of the new services for customers that will be presented at Semicon is called GreenLoop™ – a full chemical lifecycle service. With this service BASF uses its unique chemicals expertise to provide their customers a reliable solution for chemical wastes. Product developments for copper processes will be another example of BASF´s high-quality services and products.

In addition, BASF will unveil more details about its new Electronic Materials Center Europe (EMCE), which is being built in Ludwigshafen. “The center is an essential milestone in our commitment to the European semiconductor market,” said Dr. Jürgen Braun, European Business Manager for BASF Electronic Materials. “Using our unique chemical know-how and existing Verbund structures at the Ludwigshafen site, BASF can help its customers meet the challenges of new technologies to manufacture and process integrated circuits"

Ludwigshafen is BASF’s largest production site. The 10 square kilometer site is also the company’s headquarters and home to its central research platform. Between 2005 and 2009, BASF is investing about €6 billion in Ludwigshafen for capital expenditures, modernization and maintenance of its plants as well as an additional €800 million per year in the research and development of modern processes and innovative products.
