Ticket sales end September 28

Railroad enthusiasts have one week left to purchase raffle tickets for a rare chance to ride a locomotive. The Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Railway Company (CRANDIC), an Alliant Energy Transportation company, is selling raffle tickets for $2 each to benefit the United Way.

The winner of the drawing and one guest will travel with a crew on a regularly scheduled delivery to customers on CRANDIC’s Iowa City line. “We encourage eastern Iowans to take advantage of this fun and unique opportunity and help those in need through the United Way,” said Kevin Burke – vice president and general manager – CRANDIC.

Raffle tickets can be purchased until 4:30 p.m. September 28 at the Alliant Energy Transportation office – 2330 12th St. S.W. in Cedar Rapids. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tickets are also available at the Alliant Energy tower reception desk at 200 First St. S.E., during regular business hours. The ticket holder must be 18 years of age. The drawing will be held October 1 and the winner will be notified by phone. A complete list of rules is available at www.crandic.com.
