Bresnan and Fujitsu Bring Wi-Fi to Billings, Montana for Anywhere, Anytime Connectivity

Fujitsu Network Communications, a leading supplier of IT and wireline/wireless networking solutions, and Bresnan Communications, a broadband telecommunications company, announced today that they have launched a wireless solution for free high-speed broadband Wi-Fi access for Bresnan’s customers in Billings, Mont. The unique DOCSIS® 2.0 interface-based solution leverages Bresnan’s existing cable network to provide a high-bandwidth wireless network capable of allowing their customers to use the Internet, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and video services.

The Bresnan network utilizes BelAir 100S outdoor wireless internetworking nodes which are optimized to offer cable operators a powerful economic advantage. Each node can be strand-mounted, plant-powered, and interconnected to the existing cable infrastructure using a DOCSIS 2.0-compliant interface. Bresnan is also benefiting from Fujitsu Network Life Cycle Services that include site surveys, on-site mentoring, remote technical assistance, training, craft interface software and equipment feature software upgrades.
