Harris Corporation Introduces Entry-Level Broadcast Digital Asset Management Solution

WEBWIRE

Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and information technology company, is introducing the new H-Class™ Comperio™ digital asset management system at IBC2007. The product, a member of the H-Class™ family of interoperable media software applications, serves as a low-cost browser based on the next-generation H-Class™ Invenio® digital asset management system.

Designed for integration with H-Class™ D-Series™ and ADC™ automation products, as well as with Harris® NEXIO™ video servers, Comperio™ provides rich browsing functionality for automation playout centers. The system employs a powerful search engine to preview low-resolution content from a facility archive, and then move the corresponding high-resolution content from the archive to a playout destination. Comperio™ also associates summary descriptive metadata about a particular program or advertisement with the video and audio essence of that program or advertisement.

Comperio™ functionality can be further expanded by adding the H-Class™ Intelligent Media Mover (IMM) content workflow engine. IMM contains plug-ins that allow broadcasters to perform tasks such as automated ingest and cataloging of summary metadata, and automated signal quality control using the Harris® Videotek® QuiC™ media analysis server.

“Comperio™ provides the market with digital asset management functionality at a very cost-effective price,” said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications. “It opens the door for a new range of clients to quickly identify, locate and receive video assets. That access allows customers to fully utilize and monetize their assets.”

With the introduction of Comperio™, Harris now offers a range of digital asset management solutions for all customer types. Both Comperio™ and Invenio® are part of the Harris® H-Class™ media software suite — a family of applications designed to support the workflow within a media operation, from proposals and sales through media playout and delivery. H-Class™ provides one system of interoperability whereby customers can add software applications, compliant third-party products or extended licensing capabilities, creating a powerful, flexible infrastructure for the management of video broadcast organizations.

The Comperio™ digital asset management solution is part of the media management offerings in the Harris Broadcast Communications ONE initiative to deliver interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire broadcast delivery chain. The unique Harris approach brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
