Nsight Teleservices To Complete Its Triple Play Service Offering With Nortel’s End-To End IPTV Solution

WEBWIRE

TORONTO – Nsight Telservices, a midwestern U.S. regional telecommunications provider, is increasing entertainment options for its customers with an IPTV solution from Nortel* [NYSE/TSX: NT]. Nsight Digital TV provides television programming and local content through its broadband network, and a path to new blended interactive services such as combining communications with entertainment.

Upon completion in August, the IPTV solution will constitute the third segment of Nsight’s triple play service delivery strategy, adding TV to its existing telephone, Internet and mobility services.

“As a regional service provider, we’re constantly trying to stay ahead of larger, national brands by listening and reacting quickly to the feedback we receive from our customers about the services they want to receive,” said Brad Hansen, vice president and chief operating officer of fixed operations at Nsight Telservices. “Nortel took the guesswork out of our IPTV deployment and made a complex solution simple, while enabling us to maximize our existing infrastructure. They designed a comprehensive solution that allows us to meet the needs of our customers and deliver a new set of services we can feel confident about and that will net positive results quickly.”

“IPTV allows providers to offer a rich new set of revenue-generating services that provide critical differentiation in the market,” said Sameer Sheth, general manager, Video Solutions, Nortel. “Nortel is helping to alleviate the complexity and technical hurdles involved in deploying IPTV by delivering service providers a pre-tested, pre-configured solution that can be quickly integrated into existing networks.”

The new IPTV service will be available to Nsight Telservices subscribers in Northeast Wisconsin in September. Nsight provides a full range of telecommunications services including wireless, business and residential telephone, long distance, internet, web hosting and tower erection through its sister companies Cellcom, Northeast Telephone Company and NetNet.

Nortel’s IPTV solution includes Nortel Ethernet Routing Switch 8600, Nortel Application Switch 2424, Nortel VPN Router 600, as well as elements from a best-in-class IPTV ecosystem. The IPTV ecosystem includes Avail Media Connect and Edge platforms for the provision of content, Minerva Networks’ iTVManager middleware and Widevine Technologies’ content protection.

Nortel will also provide Nsight Telservices with Global Services for IPTV including project management, engineering, integration, installation, technical support and assisted operation. Nortel’s Global Services for IPTV are designed to accelerate time-to-revenue with a proven methodology from inception to solution, and to reduce complexity with a single point-of-contact across multiple suppliers.
