Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that William Molnar has joined the company as vice president and general manager of the Stratagene Division.

Most recently, Molnar was vice president and general manager of EMD Chemicals’ Lab business where he led the merger of the biosciences and lab chemical businesses. He brings to Stratagene more than 20 years of senior management experience in marketing, business development, manufacturing and sales in lab chemicals, analytics and bioscience reagents.

“We’re extremely pleased that Bill has accepted this key role in building synergy and cohesiveness among Agilent and the new Stratagene Division,” said Nick Roloefs, vice president and general manager, Agilent Life Sciences Solutions Unit. “His ability to build teamwork and shared goals will be a tremendous asset.”

Agilent completed the acquisition of Stratagene Corp. on June 7, recognizing the combined product portfolios, technology, R&D expertise, employee bases and distribution channels of the two organizations as highly complementary. Stratagene’s product portfolio includes reagents for life science research and instruments. The company also offers a range of diagnostics products.

“I am very excited to be joining Agilent,” Molnar said. “Combining Stratagene’s portfolio of bioscience reagents, kits and tools for life science research with Agilent’s instrumentation will position the company to harmonize chemistries, processes and analytical techniques. The result will be improved, simplified and accelerated life science research.”

Molnar holds an MBA in finance/industrial marketing from Loyola College, a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Bethany College.
