Digital maps to feature branded RBC locations

Busy consumers needing to locate an RBC branch or ATM won’t have to look any further than their online mapping, in-car, or mobile navigation systems to take them there, with RBC becoming the first Canadian financial institution to put its brand on these and other wireless global positioning satellite (GPS) devices. Electronic map users will begin to see the familiar RBC icon appear wherever there is an RBC branch or ATM in continental North America over the coming months.

“RBC has an extensive network of branches and ATMs across North America and we’re always looking for ways to make them more accessible to on-the-go consumers,” said Ann Bowman, vice-president, Channel Strategy. “This opportunity will allow us to get our logo into the hands of the millions of people who regularly consult online maps. Putting our brand on electronic maps is one more way that we can make it easier for people to find banking services.”

RBC is Canada’s largest bank by assets and has the largest branch and ATM network with 1,126 branches and 3,899 ATMs across the country. It plans to open upwards of 112 more branches and 400 ATMs across Canada by 2010. About 525 of existing branches are being renovated over the next three years.

In the U.S. RBC Centura Bank offers a comprehensive network in the southeast with over 340 branches and 390 ATMs. RBC Centura customers can use their Pocket Check and credit cards at more than 800 Presto! ATMs located in Publix Super Markets.

Consumers will see an RBC icon referencing either RBC Royal Bank or RBC Centura branches and ATMs anywhere in North America. RBC Dain Rauscher locations are scheduled to be included by the end of the calendar year.
