St. Petersburg, Fl.—July 12, 2007— Bill Keller host of “Live Prayer with Bill Keller” was shocked and appalled by the statement made by Pope Benedict XVI reasserting the universal primacy of the Roman Catholic Church in a document of questions and answers formulated to set the record straight. The Pope was quoted as saying, “Other Christian communities are either defective or not true churches and Catholicism provides the only true path to salvation.”

“I was shocked and appalled at Pope Benedict’s statement that all non-Roman Catholic churches are illegitimate since that is in complete contradiction to what the Bible teaches,” says Keller, “His theology is also horribly flawed when he states that non-Catholic churches do not have the “manes of salvation” since salvation does not come from an ecclesiastical body but through God’s grace and faith in Jesus Christ alone as clearly stated in Scripture"

According to the Pope, Protestant churches are not really churches at all, and their members’ acceptance of Jesus Christ as their personal savior falls on deaf ears in heaven unless they are members of the Catholic Church.

“This goes against all the Bible teaches about salvation,” Keller said, “Jesus said in Matthew 23:13, ‘Woe to you Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven against men: you neither go in yourselves-neither suffer you them that are entering to go in,’ that’s what we see coming from this Pope, he has shut the doors of heaven to those who are coming in- and I tell you the Bible is clear, there is only one way into heaven and it’s not the Roman Catholic Church it’s only through Jesus Christ.”
