GE Energy announced that Robert “Bob” Muscat has joined its environmental services team as a product line general manager, responsible for driving growth in the membrane technologies business segment.

The membrane technologies group is a leading global manufacturer of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) membranes. Originally developed and marketed for use in the company’s particulate matter filtration products, the business has expanded to offer patented ePTFE membranes and laminate solutions for a wide variety of filtration and separation applications including protective vents, liquid filtration membranes, waterproof breathable fabrics and technical laminates.

“Bob brings a wealth of strategic marketing and industry experience to our growing membrane technologies group,” said Daniel Heintzelman, president of GE Energy’s services business. “In his new role, Bob will work to drive expansion and strategic new product introductions across the business.”

Muscat comes to GE Energy from Rock-Tenn Company, where he was a vice president of marketing for the manufacturer of paperboard, packaging and display products. Prior to Rock-Tenn, he served as a strategic marketing leader within the industrial products division at W. L. Gore & Associates, manufacturer of consumer and industrial fabrics.

Muscat earned a bachelor of mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a master of science in management from Georgia State University, as well as a master’s degree in business administration from Emory University’s Goizueta School of Business.

Muscat will be based in GE Energy’s office in Kansas City, Mo.
