InfoVista S.A. (Euronext IFV - FR0004031649) the leader in service-centric performance management software today announced that it’s VistaInsight® solutions are being deployed by Telecom Namibia, the largest digital telecommunications service provider in Namibia, to deliver end-to-end service assurance on its new IP MPLS super core network. The new carrier-grade MPLS network is being designed, built and maintained by InfoVista’s partner, Dimension Data, to enable Telecom Namibia to support all of its different telecommunications services including mobile phones, fixed line phones, and fixed and wireless data networks, on one integrated platform.

An important component of the MPLS network project is the provision of an integrated network management solution (NMS) comprised of best-of-breed network management products. This NMS will be implemented and supported by Dimension Data. InfoVista’s performance management solution, Vistalnsight® for Networks, forms a vital component of this overall NMS solution.

For service providers, the continued convergence around IP-based networks is setting new challenges for performance management and is driving the need for increased network efficiency and the management of differentiated levels of quality of service. InfoVista’s web-based, performance management solution will enable Telecom Namibia to deliver the quality of service required to support next-generation services such as real-time voice and video. The solution will also enable Telecom Namibia to guarantee service level agreements for bandwidth for its new IP product and service portfolio including Ethernet virtual private networking services. The detailed performance data generated by InfoVista will provide enhanced visibility into the performance of the core network to optimize delivery of services at the edge for the end user.

“To maximize Telecom Namibia’s investment in its new network it was critical that we were able to deliver a performance management solution robust enough to support the most advanced services to business and residential customers,” explains Matthew Coad, General Manager, Operations Management, Dimension Data Africa and Middle East. “We chose InfoVista because of its flexibility, scalability, inherent openness and excellent reputation for high quality and high value.”

InfoVista’s unique, real-time, historical and future reporting capabilities will predominantly be used by Telecom Namibia for capacity planning, performance monitoring and network troubleshooting as well as service level reporting. In addition, it has been integrated with EMC SMARTS fault management software to notify the network management team of service degradation for performance threshold events.

“The African market presents a huge opportunity for InfoVista to further expand our global presence and we are pleased to be working with such a highly regarded brand as Dimension Data who are firmly established in this region as a market leader in OSS infrastructure,” says Julien Dahan, InfoVista’s SVP EMEA operations. “InfoVista has already experienced considerable success with Dimension Data as a result of our work on joint projects with service providers throughout Europe and Asia Pacific. We are especially proud of the Telecom Namibia project as it is the first OSS deal jointly won by InfoVista and Dimension Data in Africa., We strongly believe that Dimension Data’s IP heritage, OSS expertise, and project delivery capabilities combined with InfoVista’s leadership in service-centric performance management will lead both companies to further successes in Dimension Data’s motherland in the near future.”
