Already fast-paced trading environments will soon get faster, more productive and more mobile with the world’s first all-IP (Internet Protocol) trading solution, the Siemens HiPath Trading System V4.0, announced today at the annual Technology Management Conference & Exhibit of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA).

Based on Siemens’ open communications architecture, this new IP trading application will revolutionize trading floors with greater workflow integration, media integration and mobility features never before available. For example, its open Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) interface and application interface will allow the seamless integration of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, voice recording, instant messaging, presence and a host of other productivity-enhancing capabilities.

With these features, transaction records can include customer data and history as well as voice records. Traders can view buddy lists and workgroup presence, so they can initiate a workgroup conference with one touch of a button. SIP-enabled mobility features mean traders and specialists can stay in touch with fast-moving deals, whether they are down the hall or around the world.

Trading and investment houses can host the Siemens HiPath Trading System V4.0 in their data centers using the HiPath 8000 Communication software application, a HiPath 4000 Real-Time IP System, or any other SIP-based PBX. Its Linux-based servers provide greater reliability and availability and are each scalable to up to 1,000 users and up to 4,000 lines. With its pure IP architecture, IT departments can converge voice and data capabilities over a single network that can substantially lower overall operating costs while simplifying operations.

For user terminals, the HiPath Trading solution offers both an all-new, VoIP-based hard client turret, High End Communications Terminal Open Range (HECTOR(R)), with a touchscreen and extended feature set as well as Windows XP-based soft-clients. Each model provides for the integration of extensive multimedia capabilities, including voice, email, video conferencing and instant messaging. The system can also support legacy TDM (Time-Division Multiplexing) terminals and provides an open migration path from a TDM architecture.

The Energy Authority(R) (TEA(R)) is one of scores of HiPath Trading installations worldwide in more than 30 nations. TEA recently replaced its telephone system to support its role as the U.S. leader in public power energy trading and risk management. “TEA represents 39 public power utilities that depend on the availability of our systems. The outstanding reliability and support provided by Siemens on our previous system, along with the functionality of the new system, made our selection process simple,” said John Heighes, Manager of Infrastructure & Operations. “With a high-performance product like the HiPath Trading System, we gain a significant edge over our competitors.”

“Siemens Open Communications architecture is the key to unlocking the tremendous IP-based capabilities of the new HiPath Trading system for trading and investment houses worldwide,” said Dr. Gerhard Baur, head of Professional Services and Solution Management Finance, Siemens Enterprise Communications GmbH & Co. KG. “These capabilities promise an explosion of productivity in trading environments where seconds count and deals worth millions or billions are at stake. The additional benefits of workgroup presence and mobility will accelerate this productivity even further.”

The newest HiPath Trading solution shows how Siemens solutions and services can integrate seamlessly into existing infrastructures and business processes, reinforcing the company’s Open Communications positioning. The introduction of this solution also enables Siemens to take yet another step in realizing its goal of extending universal communications across networks and media boundaries with a consistent user experience.

The Siemens HiPath Trading V4.0 system and its hard and soft turret clients are on operational display at the SIFMA exhibition in Siemens Booth #1730. It is expected to be generally available in Q4 of 2007.
