WEBWIRE

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), today announced the launch of an exclusive series of remixed hits by Cui Jian, China’s rock music legend. Four classic Cui Jian hits - “I Have Nothing”, “New Long March”, “It is Not That I Don’t See” and “Wild on the Snow” – were remixed in a revolutionary collaboration between Cui Jian and internationally renowned mixmasters DJ Hyper, Hybrid and Sugadaddy. Produced by MOTOMUSIC and leading Chinese DJ Mickey Zhang, the hits underwent a contemporary electronic transformation. Fans can rock to these new hits by visiting a dedicated website (www.motomusic.com.cn/cjremix) where you can download free MP3 full tracks, ring tones, wall papers and an entirely new music video for “It is Not That I Don’t See”.

As Mainland China’s first and largest website for legal music downloads, MOTOMUSIC has established an innovative mobile music ecosystem enabling artists to connect with their fans on a whole new level. Working with DJ Mickey Zhang, MOTOMUSIC invited UK electronica artists DJ Hyper, Hybrid, and Sugardaddy to remix Cui Jian hits that touched the lives of young Chinese around the world, and inspired a generation of rock musicians in China. The result was something iconic that instills new life into these classics and extends their appeal and significance to China’s youth.

“We have experienced the rock & roll era, radio era, TV era and Internet era in China. Now we are entering the era of mobile music,” said Cui Jian. “In the past, it was always us – the Chinese musicians – learning from Western rock & roll. But now the time has come for Western artists to adapt and learn from us. I hope all handset users and music fans will enjoy this revolutionary international collaboration.”

“As the leader in mobile entertainment, Motorola is dedicated to delivering innovative products and unique experiences to people in China,” said Ian Chapman-Banks, Motorola vice-president, Asia Pacific Marketing. “Bringing together Cui Jian and top artists from around the world symbolizes Motorola’s commitment to music and to offering a more convenient, exciting, and fun mobile music experience.”

Pioneering Chinese DJ and musician Mickey Zhang added, “This event has really brought out the allure of music; the understanding, the communication, and the thrill of creation. Different eras, music, languages, and cultures all colliding in a flash of creativity is my dream as a DJ and Chinese rock fan. I hope this is just the beginning, with even more great surprises ahead of us.”

A Cui Jian mini site designed in a “remix” theme is now available on MOTOMUSIC (www.motomusic.com.cn/cjremix). A highlight of the site is a new music video for Cui Jian’s seminal hit “It is Not That I Don’t See” which features the art of Chinese paper-cutting, elegantly expressing Cui Jian’s socially conscious lyrics. Exclusive content also includes behind the scenes footage of the remix process. Fans can also send messages to Cui Jian through a dedicated message board.

The remixed tunes will come preloaded on the new ROKR Z6 music handset. Together with the MOTOROKR S9 stereo Bluetooth headset, music fans can enjoy this powerful rock experience without wires.
