Momentum selects Alcatel-Lucent as exclusive provider of fiber-to-the-home technology

Momentum, a US-based competitive service provider, and Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that Momentum has named Alcatel-Lucent as its exclusive GPON (Gigabit PON) provider to support its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure.

Momentum’s comprehensive FTTH offering, now available to developers, provides consumers with “move-in ready” access to advanced services, including video, voice, data and security services. These FTTH service bundles give developers a key competitive advantage while offering consumers an easy-to-use, cost-effective communication suite and the infrastructure to accommodate future digital home and business technologies.

Momentum is deploying the Alcatel-Lucent 7342 ISAM Fiber-to-the-User (FTTU) solution, which uses gigabit passive optical networking (GPON) to enable service providers to cost-effectively deliver high revenue, user-centric broadband services today, over a single optical fiber. The scalability of the Alcatel-Lucent FTTH solution makes it ideal for an initial network rollout and widespread deployment. With this solution, Momentum is able to offer any service mix, with increased reliability and lower maintenance costs, which helps maximize profitability.
