WEBWIRE

IPC Media, the UK’s leading consumer magazine publisher, has completed its move to new headquarters, the £200million-plus Blue Fin Building in Southwark, SE1.

The Blue Fin Building has been designed to meet IPC’s specific requirements. As well as impressive architectural elements, including 2,000 aluminium blue fins that keep the building cool; an all-glass façade; and a huge central atrium, the Blue Fin Building has several features to facilitate the production of over 60 magazines that it houses. These include:

* -A specially designed tasting suite for Decanter, the international wine bible, including a bespoke spittoon; dining room; wine store; external landscaped vine terrace and custom-made windows to allow tasters to properly evaluate wine colour
* -Music listening facilities for IPC Ignite, home to NME and Uncut
* -Specially-designed flat-plan units, for planning magazine issues
* -Test kitchens for IPC’s women’s weeklies and Woman & Home
* -A demonstration kitchen and briefing space for companies to showcase their brands and products to IPC journalists
* -Vast storage spaces and loading bay facilities for the massive amount of goods coming into and out of the building
* -Photographic studios for shoots
* -Libraries for back issues and bound volumes
* -Bespoke fashion cupboards for titles including Marie Claire, In Style and Look

IPC’s new headquarters also has much improved facilities for employees, including a large external landscaped terrace, a winter garden café bar and a restaurant with views over the Thames.

IPC Media chief executive Sylvia Auton says: “We are all very proud of IPC’s new headquarters. The Blue Fin Building provides a high quality environment for our staff to enjoy, while its stunning architecture and high-specification facilities are entirely fitting for the modern media company IPC is today.”

The Blue Fin Building’s principal contractors are Allies and Morrison, the architect; Bennett Interior Design, the interior architect; and ISG InteriorExterior the fit-out contractor.
