DALLAS,– Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. announced today that it has raised $109,498 to date for the annual March of Dimes WalkAmerica campaign, led by a corporate contribution of $50,000. Vought registered hundreds of walkers companywide for the WalkAmerica events that took place April 21, 22 and April 28 in various locations across the country.

Seven of the company’s sites have participated in their local WalkAmericas: Brea and Hawthorne, Calif.; Dallas; Everett, Wash.; Nashville; North Charleston, S.C.; and Stuart, Fla. The company’s site in Milledgeville, Ga., will participate in its local WalkAmerica event in September.

Four Vought employees in Dallas achieved Top Walker status by raising more than $1,000 each. Vought workers in the Dallas area raised a total of $25,000 for WalkAmerica. Employees in California represented Vought at the Los Angeles event, raising $11,144. Its sites in Tennessee, Washington and Florida raised $14,000, $6,872 and $1,314, respectively, for their WalkAmerica campaigns. Vought’s newest site in North Charleston participated in its second WalkAmerica event and raised $1,168.

“WalkAmerica is one of our main community relations initiatives – and employees rally behind it every year,” said Vought Human Resources Vice President Tom Stubbins. “Our people care about being good corporate citizens and are generous when it comes to giving back to their communities.”

WalkAmerica – the walk that saves babies -- is the March of Dimes’ largest fundraiser. It is a nationwide tradition that began in 1970.
