MassMutual Promotes Two Law Division Executives

(SPRINGFIELD, Mass.) - Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) today announced the promotion of two senior law division executives – John E. Deitelbaum and Trish Walsh – to the position of Corporate Vice President.

* John Deitelbaum, 38, is Associate General Counsel with responsibility for the Retirement Services section of the Law Division. Mr. Deitelbaum oversees all legal activity supporting MassMutual’s defined contribution and defined benefit retirement business. MassMutual’s Retirement Services operation in 2006 reported more than $2.8 billion in sales.
* Trish Walsh, 41, is Associate General Counsel and head of the Retirement Income, Corporate and International sections of the Law Division. As such, she is responsible for supervising a team of attorneys and legal support staff for each of these major business and corporate units, including the Company’s human resources, employee benefits, communications/advertising, technology and procurement areas.

Mr. Deitelbaum reports directly to MassMutual Senior Vice President, Secretary and Deputy General Counsel Steve Kuhn. Ms. Walsh reports to Executive Vice President and General Counsel Mark Roellig.

Mr. Deitelbaum had been Second Vice President and Associate General Counsel at MassMutual since 2000, with his most recent prior responsibility as head of the Securities Regulation & Financial Practice Group of the Law Division’s Investment Section. From 1998 to 2000 he had been General Counsel at MassMutual affiliate Babson Capital Management LLC. Before joining MassMutual in 1996, Mr. Deitelbaum had been Associate at Day, Berry & Howard in Hartford, Conn.

He holds a Juris Doctor from New York University Law School (1993) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Duke University (1990).

Ms. Walsh joined MassMutual in 2002 as Assistant Vice President in its Investment area, and in 2004 assumed responsibilities as lead counsel for the Company’s Financial Products Division. Prior to her employment at MassMutual, she was Associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in Washington DC from 1999 to 2002, and Staff Attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from 1998 to 1999.

She graduated from Yale Law School with a Juris Doctor (1996), and holds a Master of Public Affairs from Princeton University (1991) and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Mount Holyoke College (1987).
