"Where Peace Lives," Inspires Peace for All Ages

LOS ANGELES - “Where Peace Lives”, from first-time author Debbie Robins, comes with endorsements from Gore Vidal, Penny Marshall, Deepak Chopra, Arianna Huffington and other luminaries. In the story, we meet the horrible Cube of Bitterness, representing intolerance, judgment and blame, and several colorful characters (Luther the Bear, Mister Buddha, Mahma the Ferret, Chris and Mo, and Ah from the Land of La), whose peace teachings are inspired by the lives and work of Mahatma Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Jr., Buddha, Jesus Christ, Moses and the Prophet Muhammad. Written in the vein of “The Little Prince” and beautifully illustrated, Library Journal stated “Where Peace Lives,” is “... aimed at children, but a delight for all readers.”

After giving preview copies of “Where Peace Lives” to several hundred school children, Robins was overwhelmed with letters and testimonials from young people, ages six to 18, saying that the book inspired them to choose more peace in their classrooms, homes and communities. Robins always intended the book to be a call to action, so she included a “Peace Exercise” and 15 lined pages where you can log details of your own “Peace Journey.”

“I wrote this book to support children and adults alike to strengthen their peace muscle. Peace is not an ideal. Peace is a discipline, a choice -- that needs to be practiced every day. It is my hope that peace will become a class, at every grade level, in every school, all over the world. When that happens, I believe peace will be our most dominant global trait,” said Robins, an acclaimed movie/TV producer and executive/corporate coach.

Prior to writing her book, Robins spent over 20 years in the entertainment industry, working in executive capacities at Disney and at Roland Joffe’s company Lightmotive, and as producing partners with John McTiernan and Donna Dubrow and with Penny Marshall. After achieving entertainment industry success and working with top stars like Martin Sheen, George Segal, Laura San Giacomo, Cicely Tyson and Patrick Dempsey, she realized she wanted to work even more closely with people to make their professional dreams come true. Robins earned an affiliation with the Rockport Institute of Career Counseling and Coaching in Washington, D.C. and a master’s degree in spiritual psychology from the University of Santa Monica. She is now the co-founder of scoreBIG, a consulting firm that inspires organizations to reach their full potential. During the process of earning her degree she discovered she had the desire, intention and talent to write.

Robins is donating a portion of proceeds from the sale of “Where Peace Lives” to two organizations: City Hearts, a non-profit, arts-based program of prevention and critical intervention providing the most at-risk kids in the poorest neighborhoods with vital, quality arts education that enhances literacy, social and academic skills while building a sense of community; and Earth Rights Institute, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to creating a global culture of peace and justice.
